About usThe Mt Pleasant Pottery Group was established in 1960 and prior to the 2011 earthquakes had over 100 members. Our members came mainly from the eastern suburbs, but also from across Christchurch and surrounding towns. We lost our studio, that was attached to the Mt Pleasant Community Centre, in the 2011 earthquake and since then our club has been kept alive by stalwart members finding facilities at other clubs and even a home studio. This enabled many new students and members to take part in the club's activities, including adult classes, demonstrations, workshops, sales days and the annual exhibition. During our time of need, we were welcomed into Phillipstown community hub where we help classes for several years. In April 2020 we finally managed to secure a beautiful and new location at the old redcliff school location at Main Road, Redcliff. We are now slowly building our club up and beyond. Please come and have a visit! We have club days on Tuesdays 10am - 3pm, 7pm - 9pm.
We have potters whose skills range from those who are experienced and nationally recognised through to those just discovering the joys of playing with clay. New members are always welcome to come and play. |

Health and SafetyWe are a health and safety conscious organisation; because of the nature of clay and the chemicals mixed to form glazes we need all our members and students to be aware of the hazards. Our H&S document is shown on the Classes Page; please read it and act on it.
