Lesley Towart
Tutor BioI began claywork in 1992 and very quickly realised my interest lay in hand building. I love the creative flow; the not-knowing where it will end until it happens.
I enjoy creating surface texture by scratching, impressing and carving to echo the changes created by nature and the passage of time. My interest in texture guides me to experiment with glazes suitable for time-worn surfaces. After 16 fabulous years living on the West Coast in a small cottage beside the wild ocean, I am delighted to return to the Mount Pleasant Pottery Group and Ōtautahi, my birthplace. |
